Heavy duty wooden feed troughs made from larch.
These are very solid troughs that are designed to last. They are made from Scottish grown larch which is a durable timber so they do not need to be treated – very important when your animals are feeding from it! They are made with a V shape profile which is ideal for sheep. The planks are glued and nailed with stainless steel nails, and the feet are made from thicker wood for stability.
Small notches are cut into each of the braces and end pieces so that water can drain from the trough. However these will need to be kept clear every now and again as if the troughs stay filled with water for a long time it will reduce their lifespan.
Note these are pretty heavy compared to metal ones, so best for fixed feeding areas or occasional moving rather than hauling them around regularly.
The troughs can be made to any size but I have listed here 6′ (1.8m), 8′ (2.4m) and 10′ (3m).
Made to order and available for pickup from my workshop in Skerray. I may be able to deliver these to Sutherland, Caithness, Orkney and Shetland so please ask for a quote.
